Interdisciplinarity in School and Teacher Training Programs -- Mathematics and Physics as Interwoven Disciplines -- Individual Concepts in Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Physics -- Models and Modeling in Physics and Mathematics Education -- Development of Knowledge in Mathematics and Physics in Science and School -- Problem Solving in Mathematics and Physics.
In: Springer Nature eBookSummary: This volume, which is the output of a DAAD-funded collaboration between the University of Siegen and the Hanoi National University of Education, discusses and summarizes theoretical foundations of common grounds of mathematics and physics education. This interdisciplinary perspective enables especially teachers who have only been trained in one of these subjects to enrich their pedagogical content knowledge. The starting point is a description of characteristics of the disciplines and their historical genesis, followed by comparative studies. This edited volume brings together thirteen stimulating contributions on educational aspects of both disciplines written jointly by experienced researchers from Germany and Vietnam. Contents Interdisciplinarity in School and Teacher Training Programs Mathematics and Physics as Interwoven Disciplines Individual Concepts in Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Physics Models and Modeling in Physics and Mathematics Education Development of Knowledge in Mathematics and Physics in Science and School Problem Solving in Mathematics and Physics Target Groups Lecturers in teacher training, teacher students in mathematics and physics Teachers at upper secondary schools The Editors Dr. Eduard Krause and Dr. Simon Friedrich Kraus are currently working as researchers at the Mathematics and Physics Departments at the University of Siegen, Germany. Their research focuses on comparative approaches regarding mathematics and physics education in order to explore differences and synergies. They are also interested in the question of cultural influences on the learning of mathematics and physics.
