The Zeitschrift für Erziehungswissenschaft (ZfE) (“Journal of Pedagogical Research”) is an established scientific journal for the entire field of educational science. With its first issue in 1998, the ZfE was the first German educational science journal to consistently apply the double-blind peer review process to ensure quality assurance. Since then, the journal has become well established in the academic community and enjoys an enhanced reputation. ZfE publishes peer-reviewed first-class original research on current scientific developments and offers interdisciplinary research results to those interested in professional educational science knowledge. With the selection of editors, the advisory board and especially with the choice of topics, the journal stands for the interdisciplinary character of a comprehensive educational science, the subject of which is the entire human life course. The editorial board has been put together in such a way as to ensure a high degree of plurality with regard to scientific theoretical orientations, the disciplines represented, neighbouring disciplines and to safeguarding international developments. The targeted inclusion of international English-language contributions enables a connection to scientific developments outside of Germany. The ZfE is thus a trusted periodical that presents the international and interdisciplinary developments in broad areas of educational science that are important for education and training in a reliable, objective and comprehensible manner. The editorial board is committed to the guidelines of the Zeitschrift für Erziehungswissenschaft (ZfE): - Publication of high-quality research to a wide range of academics in pedagogy and education science, - Commitment to the interdisciplinarity of educational science and renunciation of pedagogical provincialism, - Increase of international developments of educational research, - Creation of a communication platform for divergent scientific foci on upbringing, education and socialisation processes throughout the entire life course. Each issue is dedicated to a current main topic, while also containing open submissions and book reviews. Generally, an encyclopaedic contribution that provides information on the history, semantics and state of research of the main topic introduces the Thementeil (“Topical section”). It also guarantees an introduction for the reader who is not familiar with the topic. The thematic section further contains a series of relevant articles on the latest German, international and interdisciplinary results and developments on the topic. The Allgemeiner Teil (“General section”) contains contributions on all educational science fields and disciplines, such as general pedagogy, social pedagogy, adult education, comparative education, school pedagogy, educational psychology, educational sociology and many more. The Rezensionsteil (“Review section”) contains a collective review of specialist literature on the main topic as well as another thematic collective review of current new publications, which are also documented in a selected bibliography. In order to avoid courtesy reviews, reviewers are commissioned exclusively by the editorial board. We do not accept unsolicited book reviews.
